Good Morning Football Fans:

Overall, The Visionary showed another very small profit last night, losing our (3-unit) total, but hitting the (2-unit) side play in the college football game. We also nailed our first (2-unit) hockey play of the 2008 season, giving us a slight profit overall. Due to the later then expected finish of my Saturday card, I will limit the discussion today and get right to the college football picks. I have a very large card again this week. Once again, I feel extremely confident that this card will cash today. Now, I won't waste anymore time and I will get right to the picks. We have three big plays of 4-5 units again this week along with a bundle of four average and small plays. Here we go for the eighth week of the 2008 college football season....

Visionary's Saturday College Football Picks:

Pick: Arizona Wildcats +2.5 (CFB)
Value: 5 Unit Play

Pick: Northern Illinois Huskies -9.5 (CFB)
Value: 4 Unit Play

Pick: Baylor Bears +17 (CFB)
Value: 4 Unit Play

Pick: Michigan State Spartans +3.5 (CFB)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: Missouri Tigers +4 (CFB)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: Michigan Wolverines +24.5 (CFB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Oklahoma Sooners -19.5 (CFB)

Good Morning Sports Fans:

Before getting to Thursday's recap and Friday's plays, I would first like to say thanks to another well-established sports blog out there that was kind enough to give us a very positive review. A very special thank you to Paul Raymond of MySportsRumors.com for his excellent review. Paul wrote us a very detailed, 500-word write-up about The Visionary's Blog titled, "Sports Handicapping - Who does it right?" where he wrote many favorable things about The Visionary. Paul has an extremely successful and very entertaining sports blog, which means that he did not have to do this for us at all, but he did. We really appreciate the acknowledgement. This is exactly the type of stuff that makes blogging so popular over commercial and standard web sites. Thanks Paul. Class act. (Check Out Paul Raymond's Week 7 NFL Predictions)

Thursday wasn't a very big success as we did hit our big, 4-unit play in TCU which I absolutely pegged and couldn't have been anymore dead on. However, the rest of Thursday's card didn't do us any favors as we lost a total of 4.2 units on the Sox runline and the FSU/NCState total. But, we banked an overall profit of 0.8 units by hitting the over in the ALCS Game 5 matchup. (Note to readers; Please do not complain when we show a profit, even if it's a small profit. Small profits add up.) Lets move on...

I am getting pumped up for another big weekend as I see a plethora of games for Saturday and Sunday that are just begging me to bet them. I'm really hoping that we can hit that 150-unit mark by Monday, but I don't want to jinx it. Again, I will try to get the NCAA football picks for Saturday posted later this evening, but I am not going to promise anything.

As for Friday, I am not really excited about tonight's matchup. I will be playing 3 units on the total and 2 units on the side. 5-units may be a little more then I should be playing on this game. But, whatever...I have the bankroll. That's not all guys! We also have our first official (2-unit) NHL play of the 2008-09 season. Again note; the NHL picks will not be a daily thing here. I do occasionally like to take on the pucks and I have some systems and strategies for handicapping the NHL. But, if you are a player that only likes to bet the pucks, you won't get your daily fill here.

Visionary's Friday NHL & NCAA Football Picks:

Pick: Hawaii @ Boise State Over 52 (CFB)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: Hawaii Warriors +24 (CFB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Columbus Blue Jackets -120 (NHL)
Value: 2 Unit Play

(The Visionary's daily free sports picks are rated on a 1-5 unit scale)

Get ready for a big weekend!!

Good Luck!

Hello Everyone:

I really enjoyed the night off and I will also admit that if I had played last night's NLCS game 5, I would have taken the over. So, the day off may have saved us two units. Thanks for the day off and to 'Stro' for his comments appreciating that I needed the day off (which I really did). Also, congrats to the Phillies and their fans. Philadelphia deserves a championship and it may just happen this year.

Anyway, I have a decent size card for Thursday night which should make things interesting. I am rather excited to watch this BYU/TCU game, not only because it's an intriguing match-up, but also because I think the oddsmakers got this one wrong. I also think the public perception of BYU is way off and they are low in my top 25. This also means a pretty decent size play on this one. So, Thursday's card is iced with a big play in tonight's college football action.

Oh yea, I thought I would mention this one more time for the NBA & NHL players that do not read the comments on a regular basis or just did not read the comments from Tuesday's post where I explained a little bit about my NHL & NBA handicapping styles. For those of you waiting for NBA picks, I do not play NBA preseason basketball as I do not think it's worth handicapping. I think the NBA preseason could be used to see how fresh some NBA players are that are facing earl injuries. And, for those of you waiting for NHL picks, I am not a regular daily player of NHL hockey. However, I will go through the NHL board and do some hockey handicapping every now and again. Regarding NHL picks, you can expect to see a few hockey plays per week (at the most), but not until the season is a few weeks deep and the quality power rating charts begin to fill up with data.

Ok then....How 'bout we get to Thursday's MLB and college football picks....

The Visionary's Thursday Free Sports Picks:

Pick: TCU Horned Frogs -1 (CFB)
Value: 4 Unit Play

Pick: Florida State @ N.C. State Over 48 (CFB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Boston Red Sox -1.5 +140 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Tampa Bay @ Boston Over 9 (MLB)
Value: 1 Unit Play

(The Visionary's daily free sports picks are rated on a 1-5 unit scale)

The Visionary hopes that his readers are excited for a big weekend!

Hello Visionary Fans:

The Visionary is taking the day off today. I do not really like tonight's NLCS Game 5 matchup at all, and after last night's 2-unit loss, I think this is the perfect time to take a day off.

For anyone waiting for NHL picks, I will occasionally post NHL picks (less then a few per week) once the regular season gets into second gear.

For those of you waiting for NBA picks, I do not play NBA preseason basketball and will not have any NBA plays until the regular season begins.

Anyway, see you all tomorrow with some college football picks.

Another profitable 2-1 (+2.8 unit) Monday evening. Again, we were able counter a lackluster Saturday college football card by banking some nice profits in the NFL, giving us another slightly profitable weekend. However, I am getting a little tired of this roller coaster ride in the college football. I am going to work even harder this week on the weekend's NCAA football picks. But again, we are still quietly making money and progressively building a bankroll, where most sports bettors out there are watching their money disappear week after week.

One Month Ago, we were at 110.4 units;
One week ago, we were at 131.05 units;
And, right now, we are at 137.65 overall.

137.65 is just under 12.5 units from the 150 unit goal that we set at the beginning of October. Despite the standstill in my college football bankroll, I am doing something right. Just thought I would put this into perspective for the readers who think they can find a better handicapper somewhere else (or think they are better themselves).

Anyway, the board is very small today. I am moving only 2 units on tonight's ALCS Game 4.

The Visionary's Tuesday Night ALCS Play:

Pick: Boston Red Sox -1.5 +140 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

See you tomorrow!

Damn....

That certainly wasn't the Saturday we were looking for at all. We were able to minimize some of the early damage by going 2-1 in the later games. But overall, still a very disappointing 3-3 (-5.3 unit) day where we gave back the cash we picked up during te week. I still have a lot of work to do in the college football this year and plan to turn it around. Like we have done so many other weeks in the past, let's get it back (and then some) with a big card of NFL picks that I have prepared for Sunday. Getting right to the 2008 NFL week 6 picks....

The Visionary's Week 6 Sunday NFL Picks:

Pick: Miami Dolphins +3 (NFL)
Value: 5 Unit Play

Pick: Indianapolis Colts -4 (NFL)
Value: 4 Unit Play

Pick: Carolina Panthers +1 (NFL)
Value: 4 Unit Play

Pick: New Orleans Saints -7 (NFL)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: Green Bay Packers +1.5 (NFL)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: New England Patriots +5 (NFL)
Value: 1 Unit Play

(The Visionary's daily free sports picks are rated on a 1-5 unit scale)

Good Luck Everyone!!
